Rivers and lakes of of Santa Cruz are proud of their fishing possibilities. You can fish resident trouts (lake trouts, percas, and rainbow trouts). The area of the Lago Argentino outside the National Park is opened to fishing activities during the entire year. While the Lago Argentino is special due to the possibility to catch big lake trouts, the Santa Cruz river is visited at the end of the summer by ocean going (anadromous) form of rainbow trouts (including those returning for spawning) known as steelhead that reach the birth of the Santa Cruz river in the Lago Argentino.
